The occult in modern art

I have been engrossed in this wonderful website Phantasaphile. It curates all sorts of contemporary-ish art that celebrates the occult. One of my favorite artists I found there was Hunter Stabler. Totally amazing graphite drawings and cut paper.

Here is a sampling of new pieces I’m making for Valentine’s day, as well as new pieces for 2012. A fellow River Arts Districter Alex Greenwood made these glass pieces for me. I hope to be able to learn how to do them myself someday. I’m experimenting with filling them with different herbs.

It feels so wonderful to be at home, watching the snow today and planning my collection for 2012. Over the last month or so, i’ve been collecting images that I know will be helpful when I’m designing. Here are a few of them. I’m particularly drawn to these wall pods by ceramicist Alice Ballard. I saw the acorn candles on etsy and am hunting around to make some of my own.
